ice cream for social justice

I am obsessed with JUSTice Cream, the Chicago-based pop-up vegan ice cream shop and innovative non-profit model conceptualized by Hialy Gutierrez. JUSTice Cream partners with local grassroots organizations to create ice cream flavors that reflect social justices issue like Aboleche Ice which is a tres leches cake and strawberry blend that they co-created with Organized Communities Against Deportations. 100% of the proceeds benefit the organization.

JUSTice Cream’s model will give more autonomy to its partner organizations than traditional funding sources. The grassroots organizers understand how to best serve their communities, so providing them money should give them breathing room to do their work.

JUSTice Cream takes food justice and community care to a sweet new level. My Pinoy peeps can get their ube fix with the 'Purple Root for Domestic Workers' flavor which benefits the Alliance for Filipino Rights and Empowerment! Check them out on Facebook and Instagram.
